Abstract

The central purpose of this chapter is to show that by the time the train commuter arrives in the city, ready to work, many meaningful mobile practices have taken place, and in many cases, these practices have become important in the train commuter’s everyday life. By focusing on mobile practices inside the train, this chapter moves beyond the functional logic of the train to explore how the particularity of the train and its recurrent rhythms participate in shaping the emotional and social spaces of the train.
