The increasing effectiveness of medical interventions has led to improved survival rates and diminished morbidity for many children and adolescents with chronic health conditions. Consequently, there are more children alive and living longer with chronic disease today than in years past. Indeed, it is estimated that upwards of 18% of children and adolescents may suffer from one or more chronic health conditions. With this number in mind, clinicians and researchers have increasingly been called upon to assess different areas of pediatric physical and behavioral functioning and well-being.
