The purpose of this chapter is to identify what teachers of young children need to know about professional ethics. We provide an overview of the moral dimensions of teaching; identify the codes of ethics that guide teachers’ work, with a particular focus on codes that address early childhood educators; provide an overview of moral development and theories of ethical thinking; consider how to infuse ethics in students’ curriculum; and explore how an early childhood teacher educator can go about teaching ethics during every stage of early childhood educators’ professional development.
