Abstract

Motivation refers to the will, desire, and drive to engage in activity (Weiner, 1979). Teaching, as a profession, requires teachers to engage in work and professional learning. Exerting the will, desire, and drive to engage in all aspects of teaching practice, and initial and ongoing learning to support this practice requires that teachers experience motivation throughout their careers.
