Abstract

Physicists use the concept of information in various senses: some notions of information are mathematical and precise, while others are qualitative and heuristic. As the history of physics and the technology of science have progressed, information as a concept and a tool has become more central to the discipline. However, no unified theory of information, data, and knowledge understood as physical phenomena has achieved consensus.
