Abstract

Real estate issues in Phnom Penh are generally limited to two main subjects: large-scale projects and forced evictions. Real estate activity is often mentioned either as a factor (of socio-spatial marginalization, violence, or corruption), or as a consequence (of the liberalization of the economic environment, flow of financial capital in the Asian region, or the arrival of foreign investors) of broader politico-economic trends (Springer 2010). In consequence, real estate production, practices and strategies are not studied in detail, although they represent an important factor of the reorganization of socio-spatial dynamics in contemporary Phnom Penh.
