Abstract

The cultural-historical approach to children’s play is part of Vygotsky’s general theory of the origin and development of the higher mental functions. Before considering Vygotsky’s views on play, we should recall some of the main proposals and problems formulated in that theory. Only in such a broad content can we truly grasp the more specific problems of the psychology of play.
