This chapter outlines three practical examples of uniting health and planning at a local authority or municipality level with a view to sharing learning that may be useful to other practitioners globally. It captures the experiences of public health practitioners from the Midlands area of the United Kingdom (UK) of working with planning authorities to develop a joined up response to healthy urban planning. That is, ‘health-integrated planning and appraisal’ as a mechanism for improving the population’s health and well-being. It has not sought at this stage to capture the same experiences from a planning perspective; however, this is an interesting challenge for the future.
