Alex W. Corey is Lecturer on History & Literature at Harvard University and Program Coordinator of the Futures of American Studies Institute at Dartmouth College. Prior to joining History & Literature, they served as Manager of the Laboratory for Race and Popular Culture at CU Boulder, where they completed their PhD in English. They are currently working on a book project titled Beyond the Blues: Music, Gender, and Black Modernisms, which explores how the gendering of sound led into and emerged out of the twentieth-century problem of the colour line in the United States.
