Abstract

This chapter explains challenges for student-teachers during their teaching practicum. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with student-teachers from an early childhood education programme. The findings identified three types of challenges, including the lack of opportunities for practice, working with experienced teachers in the classroom, and working in school as an organization in the community. It is suggested that the link between teacher education programmes, schools, and the community be improved.
