This chapter includes a survey of studies which examine argumentation at work, i.e. studies that explicitly and reflectively address, from a language-oriented perspective, argumentative issues in workplace studies, such as leadership, decision-making, workflows, and professional and employable identities. The chapter provides historical perspectives in Argumentation Theory and introduces the main research methods that are relevant for a language-oriented study of argumentation at work as well as examples of current contributions. Finally, the chapter discusses the main crucial issues, topics, and future directions of research related to argumentation at work.
