Abstract

This final chapter in the Afterword section of the Handbook provides personal perspectives from national leaders in educational psychology on some of the major highlights of our history, the present status of the discipline, and prospects for the future. The chapter reports in brief essays those perspectives of eight leaders in educational psychology who were invited to contribute to this volume by the first author. The relative emphasis on the past, present, or future of our discipline was left up to each scholar. As will be seen, their views are sometimes similar and often different. Some are more positive, some more negative. One is a personal narrative.
