Abstract

The field of educational effectiveness research (EER) has expanded rapidly during the last three decades in many countries. Methodological advances have enabled more efficient estimates of teacher and school differences in student achievement to be obtained (Goldstein, 2003). Moreover, there is substantial agreement as to appropriate methods of estimating school and teacher differences or effects and the kinds of data required for valid comparisons to be made (Creemers, Kyriakides, & Sammons, 2010).
