Abstract

In this chapter, we will look at one of the central elements in the field of educational effectiveness research (EER): research on teacher effectiveness. We will explore the development of teacher effectiveness research and look at the key findings from process–product research on teacher behaviours, and also review the main studies in the field and the development of the ‘direct instruction’ teaching method.
