Abstract

This chapter discusses the learning and teaching of translation from the points of view of both teachers and students. The content is divided into two parts: first ‘the traditional approach’ is introduced, focusing on translation strategies at the process end and on translation error analysis at the product end. In the second half of the chapter, ‘new directions’ in translation teaching are represented by a case study carried out in an MA translation programme at Swansea University, UK.
