Abstract

Over the past two decades, the fields of Educational Data Mining (Baker & Yacef, 2009) and Learning Analytics (Siemens & Baker, 2012) have gained prominence in research, policy, and public literature. The fields evolved from the applied disciplines of Machine Learning, Intelligent Tutoring Systems and Data Mining, which in turn have their own roots in Applied Statistics, Education, Psychology, Cognitive Science, and Computational Linguistics.
