Abstract

In recent years, literature on neoliberal science and medical neoliberalism has suggested a link between recent changes in the organization of science and medicine, and economic ideas justifying them. This chapter discusses recent developments in biomedical science in terms of this work. The purpose in doing so is to illuminate forces shaping not only local developments such as genomics, but also the larger political economy of science (Tyfield et al., 2017).
