Abstract

In this chapter, we address three questions. First, why and how has the commons analytic approach evolved in the study of water commons? Second, how might its application or results be different from other types of commons, due to the distinctiveness of water as a common pool resource (CPR)? Finally, what analytical frameworks, if any, lend themselves best to the study of the water commons and why? We conclude with the way forward.
