Abstract

The chapter considers first the main versions of ontologies of discrete objects, most notably atomism and Aristotelian substance ontology, but also the ontology of discrete events. It then goes into non-thing ontologies, most notably the ontology of one continuous stuff. In assessing these ontologies, the chapter lays stress on how they fare with respect to physics.
