[Abstract: This chapter explores the process and path of transformation as represented by the traditions of Indigenous art and vision. First, the nature of dream and vision, as viewed through the eyes and words of American Indian visionaries and artists, both past and present, are explored. Then the central role of vision in the context of Tribal educative endeavors is examined. Third, the alchemy of the creative process is discussed from the perspective of transformation and orientation in an Indigenous context. Each of these three pathways is discussed as both a process and context for deep learning and understanding among Indigenous peoples. Through following the tracks in each of these pathways of Indigenous transformation, the triad of myth, vision, and art echo the role of the other foundations of the environment, affective, and communal in Indigenous education. Thus, the integrated whole of Indigenous education becomes visible as we explore these dimensions of the place of dream and vision in Indigenous life. ]
