Abstract

Methods in the education of children with low vision have changed over time. The historical framework for this review focuses on two major issues in low vision. One seeks to identify elements that have shaped the delivery of low vision education services to students in the schools in the United States. The second examines the evolution of the standardisation of print enlargement systems as well as individualised options for the delivery of large print. Insights gained from influences that have led to contemporary low vision practices provide perspective and direction for the delivery of new systems for the education of students who have low vision.
