Departure into conservation and biodiversity continues in this deeply theoretical chapter on Rewilding Europe, in the European Union, with the mission to restore altered wilderness areas to original states, and to reintroduce apex predators and consumers. Elliot considers biopower, hybrid geographies, and neoliberal agendas through vastly different actors who enable or prevent rewilding based on institutional and instrumental priorities. Ecotourism is the preferred form of tourism to support such an initiative but may be subject to contradictions (e.g., greenwashing) that may hamper the aims of rewilding.
