Abstract

This chapter addresses how to develop an effective relationship with graduate students in order to mentor them in research and other scholarship. It focuses on mentoring models, characteristics of effective mentors, strategies, barriers, and strategies supporting students of color. The chapter concludes by presenting several practical activities, ideas, and examples to enhance mentoring effectiveness.
