Abstract

In this chapter, we present an easily accessible framework for getting and implementing research, service, and training grants to support school psychology scholarship. The chapter includes a detailed rationale for school psychologist involvement in grant writing and implementation and provides clear definitions and benefits of various types of grants. Additionally, the chapter includes tools and strategies for finding research, training, and service grant opportunities aligned with school psychology activities. These tools include online searchable websites for identifying federal and foundation funding opportunities. Much of the chapter is devoted to providing detailed guidance on how to write successful grant proposals tailored to the various types of funding opportunities. The authors offer specific ideas for identifying fundable ideas, writing proposal narratives, and planning research study designs and analyses. Additionally, the authors discuss more nuanced but essential aspects of successful proposals including budget planning, team composition, and letters of support. The chapter concludes with advice for how to implement projects once funded.
