Due to the high professional demands associated with faculty positions, faculty members’ work-related challenges may negatively impact their personal and professional lives. In addition, normative and non-normative stressful life events can further exacerbate these challenges and create adversarial circumstances for school psychology faculty in university settings. The purpose of this chapter is to review theoretical and conceptual models of resilience applicable to faculty encountering work-related challenges (e.g., caustic politics and discrimination). In addition, we discuss empirical studies that address strategies to reduce professional conflicts and faculty burnout. Finally, we conclude with a discussion of the authors’ strategies that were used to address personal and professional challenges and overcome adversity.
