Intercultural and multicultural variability demands that school and educational psychologists search for new forms of understanding and ways of serving the diverse school communities in which they work. Adding to the complexity of working in this discipline is sharing scholarship internationally, something that cannot be separated from the realization that school and educational psychologists are faced with special challenges and assumptions—often presented by the unique circumstances, institutional constraints, and cultural diversities within which they function. Recognizing these challenges and approaching the topic from a critical perspective, the central goals of this chapter are to discuss the potential benefits, challenges, and opportunities that come with producing international scholarship related to school and educational psychology. Aligned with these goals, the chapter also describes key concepts and considerations one should be aware of if engaging internationally. Additionally, the chapter presents several recommendations intended to support international scholars in achieving their own definition of success. Recommendations focus on individual scholars, leaders within professional organizations, as well as journal editors and reviewers—all of whom play an important role in the production of international scholarship and advancing internationalization within a discipline.
