Abstract

This chapter will present systematic arguments and documentation that highlight Lewin’s involvement in theory formulation and research in the domains of social and organizational change. As a result of Lewin’s involvement, planned organizational and social change became an important issue in social and behavioral sciences. The evidence presented here is an intriguing example of a dialectical thought process, which resulted in the construction of action research as a research paradigm, a methodology, and a means of interventions aimed at improvement of social systems.
