Abstract

While it may be a bit over-simplistic to say that Christian responses to evolution are divided between those who take what science says seriously and those who do not, this claim would not be far from the mark. From the scientific creationists, to intelligent design theorists, to those who believe that God indeed creates the world through evolutionary processes, Christians have either made some sort of peace with evolution, or they continue to challenge its scientific legitimacy in spite of its overwhelming success in explaining the rise of biological complexity. For those in the former group, the task now is to describe not only how God creates via evolution, but also to examine any potential trouble one runs into by making such an assertion. For those in the latter group, the battle to dislodge it as the organizing theory of biology rages on still today.
