Abstract

Naturalism is a general program for all of philosophy, including ethics, the philosophy of language and mind, epistemology, and the philosophy of science. There are some general features of naturalism shared by all these different philosophical projects. Yet, in each of those areas, the impulse to naturalization has had various motivations and a distinctive history. I begin this essay by attempting to characterize the general naturalistic program before moving on to considering the specific project of naturalizing the philosophy of science.
