Abstract

This chapter explores the decision-making practices within global social movement networks to describe alternative forms of organization that these movement actors are creating through their practices. These emerging practices are of analytical significance because they represent an alternative model of global governance being developed within the everyday organizational practices of these movements. These practices are far from perfect, and the leap from movement practice to global governance is a large one, but this in no way diminishes the importance of developing a deeper understanding of both the potentials and limitations of such alternative modes of organization.
