One of the major problems of comparative research is the question whether the data sets are comparable across nations, cultures, or countries. 1 The problem can be sharpened to the following key question: Are the constructs and their measures comparable? Or to frame the question methodologically: Are the constructs and their measures cross-nationally invariant (Hui & Triandis, 1985b)?
