Abstract

Bangladesh is a low-income(developing) country with a population of more than 150 million people. The economy is mainly agriculture dependent(about 65 percent of the population lives directly or indirectly on the sector) and, as a corollary, an overwhelming number of its people are tradition-bound. About 75–80 percent of the population lives in rural areas. Bangladesh is a market-based economic system. The values and aspirations enshrined in the Constitution are basically liberal(social-democratic) and therefore Euro-centric. People in general are religious. The state has honored the religious values of its citizens and has attempted to guarantee religious liberty in the Constitution.
