Abstract

In a 1998 episode of Sex and the City (“The Turtle and the Hare,” 1.09), Charlotte—usually the most sexually conservative of the friends—becomes hooked on a “Rabbit” vibrator. After the episode aired, Rabbit sales rocketed. Fourteen years later, the Sex and the City (SATC) New York tour (http://www.screentours.com/tour.php/satc/, July 25, 2012) still includes a stop at the shop where Charlotte purchased her vibrator. This is the only “sex” on the tour, which focuses on locations associated with consumption, friendship, and romantic moments in the series and its related films.
