Abstract

Not long ago, when the cost of primary energy carriers was low, energy waste (low-potential heat, mostly) was neglected in the energy balances of most manufacturing technologies.* Yet, the market price of fossil energy carriers changes, when their consumption increases presenting the gloomy possibility of less oil being used when oil is one of the most preferred energy carriers. On the other hand, changes in the global climate and ecology urged the public, investment, scientific, and engineering interest in technologies that would more effectively exploit the potential of the primary energy carriers by increasing the efficiency of the technologies of energy regeneration and recuperation.
