Nontarget organisms are occasionally killed by aerial insecticide sprays intended for adult mosquito control. Adverse effects on nontarget organisms can be minimized if the insecticide residue is monitored in target and nontarget zones so that appropriate adjustments in application volume can be achieved. This can be accomplished by accurate determination of the residue concentration. Incorporation of residue monitoring in mosquito control operations will facilitate applying the insecticide at the right dose and at the right place while providing critical feedback for continuing improvement.
