Abstract

FAST (faceted application of subject terminology) is a faceted subject heading vocabulary derived chiefly from the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), a widely-used subject heading system published and maintained by the Library of Congress (LC). A controlled vocabulary with simple application rules and a design well suited to Linked Data applications, FAST has been developed through a multi-year collaboration of OCLC Research and the Library of Congress with advice from the library community. OCLC is responsible for the ongoing development of FAST.
