Abstract

Every response of fish proceeds within a thermal range dictated by the immediate environment. As human activities change this thermal environment, the activities of indigenous fish species must also change. There may be minor readjustments of the rates of metabolism and growth, or major changes in the distribution of species and of the functioning of the affected aquatic ecosystems.
