Abstract

All forms of mining cause some impact on the aquatic environment. Sometimes this impact causes considerable disruption of the natural life cycles in the affected water. In almost all cases, there is an increase in the total dissolved solids in the mine drainage waters. Mine drainage typically increases acidity, levels of dissolved metal, and suspended solids content.
