Abstract

Biological control is defined as the use of natural enemies to suppress a pest population, making the pests and their associated damage less abundant. Specific strategies have been developed for release of natural enemies or enhancement of their persistence and activity. Biological control agents are widely used for control in environmentally sensitive areas or controlled environments and constitute important components of integrated pest management programs.
